"Dear Bay Tours: Last week I visited Nelson for several days and took one of your vineyard tours. I want to thank you for such an interesting and enjoyable experience. Kyall, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and imparted this knowledge in an ethusiastic, unpretentious way. I found his information about wines and vineyards to be really interesting and enjoyed the stories he told us about the Nelson region. He is an excellent guide.
I also appreciated the easy booking process (a simple phone call to the free phone number) and prompt pick-up arrangements. Of course, the wonderful wines, the accommodating staff at the vineyards, and the fun group of other particpants added to the pleasure of the experience. Again, thank you for making the vineyard tour one of the most enjoyable and memorable parts of my trip to New Zealand. Sincerely,"

"You did a great job in planning our 2 day tour, we all thoroughly enjoyed it, the gardens, crafts, the great people we met, the vineyards. A critical element of the tour was your personal contribution Roy, in the way you contributed to the success through your personality, friendliness and knowledge of the area its wine and its people. Thanks again."

"Bay Tours offers a great service that I believe others would struggle to compete with."
Anthony, Nelson
I cannot speak highly enough of the tour we all enjoyed in and around Nelson on a beautiful day in August, we started off with a wonderful overview of Nelson with a great introduction to the city and surrounds by guide Marion or maid Marion as some may call her. The views of the Bay and beyond were spectacular.
Off to the WOW museum where those who wished had time to visit the creations of years past and others enjoyed the cars and some just enjoyed the coffee, nice to have a choice.
Then to Eyebright and just watch those ladies shop and our token male enjoyed the sunshine and free coffee. Hoglund glass which is always a great stop even if you just oogle but a few pieces left the shop.
Mapua was a great lunch stop and then the highlight for me, visiting the Woollaston’s Winery where the owner was the perfect host, interesting art, great views and buildings.
Then to an amazing wood turner, passion with craft, We all agreed we had really seen a great overview of the beauty of Nelson area and the many diverse things to see and do. Our token male thought he would have a hohum day but he was rapt with his day.
Thank you Bay Tours - a very successful partners day for the Roadmarkers New Zealand Conference |
We have known Roy Thompson since he came to us in 1997 to discuss his plans to establish Bay Tours.
Since the summer of 1998/99 we have enjoyed hosting very regular visits of Bay Tours, with their guests.
The Bay Tours staff have an excellent knowledge of the geography and history of the Nelson region, which they enjoy sharing with a very wide market they attract, whether it be backpackers or luxury lodge guests, inbound tours or charters or conferences, or the friends and family of Nelsonians.
They have a 'knack' of creating the ambience and environment to suit the age and background of every group.
Bay Tours is a professional organisation. It is always a pleasure to experience a wine tasting with Bay Tours guests - they are always interested and enthusiastic. They never treat the experience as a 'booze cruise'. This is a direct reflection on the professional attitude and enthusiasm of Bay Tours.
Roy has attended wine appreciation courses and has worked hard at increasing his wine knowledge and tasting skills. He has trained his staff with the same enthusiasm and professionalism.
Bay Tours wine passion is contagious and ensures that their passengers leave Nelson with an excellent knowledge of Nelson as a wine region, including the history and grape varieties that achieve best here.
We value our association with Bay Tours, and sincerely appreciate the quality business they bring to us.

Bay Tours have been regular visitors to The Grape Escape Winery and Cellar since 1998 over which time they have introduced many NZ and overseas tourists to our wines.
The relaxed, friendly and informative service that Roy and his team provide sets a standard unsurpassed by other operators in this industry and we have received many independent testimonials from their satisfied customers.
Bay Tours are not only great ambassadors for Nelson wines but also of the unique and special region in which we live.
Their decision to increase operations in the forthcoming season can only be of benefit to us all in the tourism business.
