Tour 2: Walks and Wine Tour

Book / Enquire Tour »The Walks & Wine Tour consists of two lovely bush walks, each about 30 minutes long and then a visit to an Award Winning Winery and some local art & craft stops along the way.

Our tour starts by travelling for 35 minutes through lush rural sheep farming scenes and a quaint rural NZ town Motueka, once the heart of the tobacco industry in NZ. Kiwifruit orchards, orange groves, hops, apple orchards and vineyards line our route. Once we cross the Riwaka River we realise we are nearly at our first walk. After a 10 minute drive alongside this river we reach the start of our first walk to the source of this river. This walk is called The Riwaka Resurgence Walk. This is a sacred area where crystal water emerges from a cave at the base of the Takaka Mountain. It is a peaceful and spiritual place which holds great significance for Maori as it is held to be a place of healing. Along this walk we see many plants ancient Maori used to cure ills and pains as well as seeing NZ’s national emblem the NZ Silver Fern or Ponga in Maori.

After this walk it’s into our air conditioned vehicle again for a 30 minute drive over to beautiful Marahau and the site of our second walk to Split Apple Rock. We walk down a lovely secluded track to a pristine beach and view the iconic Split Apple Rock and maybe even fish shoaling in the bay! If the tide permits, we can enjoy our lunch while we sit on the golden sand. After our walks we take in an award winning winery and taste some superb wines. If time permits a stop at historic Mapua wharf for some boutique shopping and an ice cream! What a day!

This tour is approximately 5 hours, pick-up and drop-off from Nelson accommodation included. First pick up time is 11.00 am.

Please note a minimum of 2 people is necessary for guaranteed departure.

Cancellation Policy: Up to 5 days before = Re-ticketing at no extra cost OR refund less 20% transaction fee. If cancelled within 5 days of tour there is nil refund.
