Book / Enquire Tour »Beer has been the central culture of the Nelson-Tasman Region dating right back to the first NZ settlements in the 1840's. Early German settlers in Sarau found the Moutere to be an ideal location and climate to cultivate hops, and an extensive brewing tradition followed. New Zealand's hop crop thrives in ideal growing conditions under the Nelson sun. The region is also home to more craft breweries per head of the population than anywhere else in the country.

There are also several craft distilleries within the region creating Gins, Whiskeys, Rums and liqueurs. If time permits we may visit one.

Our Awesome Ales Tour takes you to several craft breweries. If we are lucky we can sometimes meet the brewers themselves. The tour is a fun informative experience. First pick up is 11.00am, the tour is approximately 5 hours.

While you travel between the Breweries our guides provide informative information on the history of the area and answer any questions you may have.

Please note we need a minimum of two persons to run this tour. This tour includes all beer tasting (full tasting trays or similar at each stop!) on your day out. Any meals are at your own cost, however there will be a leisurely lunch stop where you can purchase meals if required.

Cancellation Policy: Up to 5 days before = Re-ticketing at no extra cost OR refund less 20% transaction fee. If cancelled within 5 days of tour there is nil refund.
