Tour 10: Caves, Springs and Scenic Wonders

Book / Enquire Tour »This is an amazing tour that lets you take in some of the most pristine scenery that the Nelson Tasman, Takaka area has to offer. You will travel over the Takaka hill and take a fully guided cave tour at Ngarua Caves and see real carbonated bones of the native Moa (now extinct).

We will then travel on to The quaint township of Takaka to enjoy local atmosphere, arts and crafts and have a chance to visit a local distillery too (if time permits). Then it's on to the stunning Te Waikoropupu (PuPu) Springs to view some of the world's clearest freshwater. We then visit "The Grove". This is a magical experience and shows us how amazing nature can be.

This is a great adventure, covering over 150 km of pristine scenery. Along the way our experienced guide will give you great insight of the local Maori and European history.

As we travel some distance, this tour will depart at 8.15 am so we can explore at a more leisurely pace. The tour is approximately 8 hours long. Pick-up and drop off from your Nelson or Tasman accommodation is included.

For safety reasons the Ngarua Caves Team require you to wear closed toe footwear, we will also be doing short walks therefore comfortable closed toe footwear with good grip, such as sports shoes are required. Please also bring warm clothes and a warm hat. (11 degrees celcius in the cave.)

Entry fee to Ngarua Caves and a light picnic style lunch is included in the cost.

Please note we need a minimum of two persons on tours.

Cancellation Policy: Up to 5 days before = Re-ticketing at no extra cost OR refund less 20% transaction fee. If cancelled within 5 days of tour there is nil refund.
